Michael Hutchison writes that mental states like depression and anxiety are associated with very specific biochemical secretions and that floating has a dramatic effect on the biochemicals associated with depression and anxiety. Thomas Fine and othres noted in their paper ‘Floatation Rest in Applied Psycho-physiology that some 70% of patients surveyed reported far more by than any other modality. Second to floating was relaxation training, physical therapy and finally medication.
